Fork Root

I'm currently listening to the Series for, what seems like, the 10th
time and some things have come to mind. I'm currently on Fires of
Heaven, and Ny and Elayne just got drugged with Fork root and a thought
from a later book hit me. One of the Aes Sedia's was talking or
thinking, I can't remember which, that fork root seemed to target Aes
Sedias. And I wondered what if it was. In the Age or Legends the Aes
Sedias created Nyms and I believe they created Ogier as well, it never
says they did but I think they did, and Chora(sp?) Trees and Aginor
created the trollock, so why wouldn't they create a planet that could
suppress the ability to channel? In the war of power it would be a
great weapon in defeating an army of channellers. Simply do what
Perrin did, taint their water supply and you have an upper hand with
very little effort.

Umm, that would be my guess.

There's a bit in KoD where Loial and some other Ogier discuss the Book
of Translation, and Elder Haman says the time has come for the Ogier to
open it. Thus they will leave the world, for the Wheel of Time to spin
them out again in a future age.

My pet theory is that the Ogier come from another plane of existence,
and regularly get spun out into our world when humanity has advanced to
a sufficient degree.

I don't see what good a planet that represses the ability to channel
would do, unless you can somehow get every channeler in the world onto
it. But if you can do that, why not just chuck them into the sun?

Unless, of course, you added an extra E to the word 'plant,' which
would make a lot more sense. Personally, I don't think forkroot was
created by a Forsaken. It's probably just the result of natural
evolution over 3,000 year, in much the same way that peaches have
become poisonous.

However, the idea of using it as Perrin did is good. Imagine in the
remaining Forsaken decide to have a last drink half an hour before
Tarmon Gai'don, unaware that Rand has used tiny gateways to infuse
their beer with essence of forkroot...

I agree with you to a point, I don't think that Ogier are from another
plane of existence though. They're more likely from another planet. I
think Lanfear mentions at one point (reference badly needed) that the
AOL AS Traveled to other worlds, possibly bringing back the Ogier.

I seem to remember that being Moghedien, though my memory on such
matters is not crystal clear.

I tohught they were aliens for a long time as well, but the KoD scene
made me wonder how they would get back to their home planet without a
spaceark.

The Shadow Rising, Chap 54 "Into the Palace"

Nynaeve let her legs sag. Dropping the feather duster, she
caught hold of the pedestal to support herself. There was very little
fakery needed.
Moghedien smiled and took a step nearer. "\a133travel to other
worlds, even worlds in the sky. Do you know that the stars are\a133"
So sure, that smile. So triumphant.
Nynaeve seized the collar, ignoring the joltingly pained
emotions that spilled into her, and hurled it, all in one motion.

Nothing about the Ogier.

I urge that the Ogier recruit reinforcements from that other plane of
existance.

Or the Forsaken could use tiny gateways to infuse Rand's beer with forkroot.

Planet that suppresses channeling: A horror for the Wheel of Time space
age! I once read a Star Wars novel in which Luke Skywalker visited a
planet whose life forms block use of the Force.
