Page 764: Egwene is wondering where the heck the Forsaken Massana is.
All the Black Ajah sisters either with the rebels or in the Tower that
Verin fingered have been accounted for. Every AS has been screened,
using the Oath Rod to cancel all their oaths and then reswear the
Three Oaths so as to force them to answer truthfully when asked "Are
you a Darkfriend". Egwene does have a list of three women not on
Verin's Black Ajah list who disappeared or got captured by the
Seanchan. Those three had been in the Tower for years, and none of
them fit as being Messana. Egwene wonders if Messana is still hiding
in the White Tower, meaning that she can defeat the Oath Rod.

I'm surprised that it hasn't occurred to Egwene that Messana might
have completely concealed her channeling ability. After all, didn't
Nynaeve and Elayne tell her about Moghedian having completely
concealed her channeling ability when she was infiltrating the Salidar
AS?

Was it really necessary to execute all the BA? Couldn't they have
been made to swear on the Oath Rod to make no attempt to either escape
or further assist the Darkfriends?

That could always have been broken in some fashion or other. I'm happy
someone finally took some final measures in the series.

I think the BAs should have been interrogated more throughly before
being executed. I figure that they could have been made to swear on
the Oath Rod to answer all questions honesty and completely. Once
they had been throughly debriefed, then they could have been executed.

For starters, I would have asked them to name and describe every
Darkfriend they know of.

Except that the DO can resurrect all the BAs. Egwene is going to have to
Balefire all the BAs.
