I'm near the end of a re-read of Wot and I keep having reaccuring
thoughts about "Gateways of Mass Destruction". Why hasn't someone done
some experimenting with these? Especially the Asha'man?

For example, one could open a gateway above or near a valley
containing a trolloc picnic of say 500,000 trollocs. The other end of
the gateway could be somewhere deep in the aryth ocean (mass floods
and drowning, shark bites, et al), in the deep vacuum of space
(everyone gets sucked out), or even into "skimming" space.

Also gateways seem to be a great way for kidnapping. Perhaps someone
like elaida. That could help egwene and her bloodless war. Pop in,
shield, and exit before anyone knows whats happening.

Or maybe some tricky stuff like a gateway in a door way, so people
walk into traps (or off a cliff) on their own.

Which raises the question, how far from a gateway can a channeler be?
If channeler is on a hill can he/she open a gateway in a valley bellow
that is well within line of sight?

What about gateways within gateways. Say your enemy opens a gateway to
escape, you open one close enough to it so that when they jump
through, they go through yours as well and end up somewhere to your
advantage....

oh the possibilities....

Or you could pop in into an area, then just start opening gateways in the
middle of people.

Considering you have to know the area you are making a gateway in
really well, I doubt a gateway could be made in the ocean and if you
are in the middle of the trollocs your screwed too.

That sounds like a plan to me.

This would only work if you disguised where the gateway went since you
can see through them, and as soon as the first person went through and
disappeared behind the disguise weavings the rest of the people would
be warned.

Sure, if the channeler knows the area well enough.

True, but if you get to know a vally really good, and make sure that a lot
off trolloc, fades etc. is lured in there, and then from a safe distance
open a gate to the ocean...wouldn't that work :o)

Is this covered in the FAQ? I've only been posting here a year and I
have taken part is dozens of conversations about the uses of gateways.

The perpetual motion machine was my favorite.

Google the group for it, I'm sure you will find a lot of those
possibilities you mentioned.

Just a thought you probably alreayde have discussed in this newsgroup
(me = newbie)

Shouldn't there exist a strong wind through a Gateway opened over great
distances. Differences in air pressure should create quite strong winds...

Everything else seems to be able to pass through, but perhaps not weather?

Open a Gateway right into the middle of Dragonmount.

Open Gateway to Trolloc picnic, fire Mat's cannons through it.
