Do they have eyebrows?
I can't recall any mention of eyebrows in any of the WoT books, but havent
read the Guide, and am not about to buy a copy to support RJ unless I were
to hear smashing reviews of it.
Does the guide mention this tidbit, or must I remain forever curious?

I think they have brows (as in brow-ridges), but not with hair. There
is a picture in the Guide, but obviously it's a shit picture. Not the
way I pictured Fades (not that that's an indication of whether it's a
shit picture or not).

From EotW, Chaper 17:

"From oily black hair to puffy cheeks was as smooth as an eggshell..."

*sigh*

This is my biggest peeve - whenever I see a rendition of a Fade, the
artist invariably includes hollow, skin-covered sockets, when RJ is
very clear that Fades not only don't have eyes, they don't have the
facial construction for them. Which makes them extremely creepy
looking, at least to me. No sockets, no ridges, none of it.

Which makes sense: looking a Fade in the "eyes" is supposed to cause
near-paralytic fear. If they look that horrific to a Third Ager (and
in person) they'd have to be a little weird to us too.

Ah, so no brows. Unless they have hangy-down hair.

Fine with me. That's always the way I've pictured them anyway. And
indeed, why have brows if you don't have eyes to protect? And I wonder
if the thick 'forehead' part of their skull extends all the way down
to the nasal cavity?

Glayven.

Yep. It does make me wonder why he agreed to anything in the Guide. Or
any of the illustrations.

Another book with his name on it to put on bestseller lists?
Piles of cash?
Or his editor\proofreader (Ha!) of a wife stole his scribbled down notes,
and sent them off to the publisher to sort through and write creative
stories about?

Or he wants to beat his children to the punch. I understand that Christopher
Tolkien is selling his father's laundry lists.

All of the above.

And he's the Devil.

There are some excellent pictures in the WOT RPG and a related adventure
module called "Prophecies of the Dragon", most of which are much better than
those in the Guide. The one for Myrdraal pictures them as not having
eyebrows.

BTW, in many way the RPG is much better than the guide.

Except for the fact that it is a game, and has nothing to do with the
plot.

I suppose you could use the pictures, but you have to be careful. You
can't start using things like character stats, for example, to see who
is better with a sword.

- For me, I've always pictured them as tall things with "eggs" for heads in
flowing back robes that don't move when they walk. They have no eyes or eye
sockets whatsoever and their faces are smooth and somewhat tight so when
they smile, it looks really creepy, because their flesh doesn't look like it
should be able to stretch like that. I'm probably way off, but that's what
I've always visualized when thinking of a Myrddraal.

Add to that their faces look like maggots, with stretched almost tranluscent
skin -- I always picture them as having their veins and some other internal
organs of their heads as being seen through that skin. Seeing something like
that would unnerve me.

They don't have eyes, so why would they have eyebrows?
