This post is mainly for people who have already read the book and wish
to start discussion of things that happened. The questions I pose
reveal some central spoilers I don't recommend you read if you havn't
read the book.

SPOILERS

SPOILERS

A few questions to throw out there:

1. After Mats knife fight outside the 'Hell' someone tells Tuon they
will keep her secret. Does anyone think that Tuon channeled in her own
off screen fight?

2. the Tower timeline was left with Egwene about to serve Elaida at
dinner near the roof of the tower. Anyone else get the feeling the
seanchan are going to land raken on the roof that night?

3. Masema doesn't make sense. Apparently the man convinces Aram that
Perrin is a darkfriend, but then lets all his followers get killed off
in the battle, except for a hundred guys or so left to him. If he
thinks perrin is a darkfriend why didn't he actually move against
perrin himself?

4. Why does no one think of Balefiring Semirhage after she injures
Rand?

5. How could Narishma talk to the rebel hall about confronting forsaken
and saidin being cleansed without someone asking him how this occured?
In other words why is there a conspiracy of silence that Rand was
responsible for the massive ammounts of power being used and that he
gets the credit for the cleansing.

6. Does anyone else think that the Aes Sedai at the Seafolk meeting
Logain shows up at is essentially a kidnapped tower aes sedai that may
have known nothing of the bargain?

7. Is it only me that thinks the whole Sea Folk moving food for a
million people is insane? I didn't think Tear has that type of supply,
and wouldn't it be faster to open and tie off several gateways?

8. Regarding Siuans pattern of young sitters and the theory that they
are place holders until the tower is reunited, could the sitters
negotiating - Varilin seems to have taken over for the Rebel hall - and
Elaida's sitters who are negotiating against her express orders - be
secretly planning a reunification against both amyrlins?

9. Rand has hundreds of Asha'man in the field and Logain with him,
while Evil Mazrim Taim huddles with his hundred Bad Guy Asha'man in his
palace. Who in the world is actually running the Black Tower?

10. Why did Taim say yes to Pevara/Tarna's proposal to Bond Ashaman?
Rand ordered it in the case of the Rebel hall and Taim seems to still
obey on the surface, but I don't see how it has any connection to
letting the lord of chaos rule as Taim justifies his descision. Plus as
a confirmed Dark Friend now, shouldn't Taim be aiming to make White and
Black Tower enemies? It seems this has been the Dark Ones strategy
until now. What changed?

Thats all for now

I thought he was talking about Selucia, maybe that she was clearly a
bodyguard and not just a lady's maid

I didn't. I think they are going to be used to attack the Tower, but
don't know when. I doubt the Seanchan know enough of the Tower to attck
by landing on the roof, or that this would provide a good spot.

Insanity I suppose. I didn't think convincing Aram made much sense either

4. Why does no one think of Balefiring Semirhage after she injures

Probably only Cadsuane knows it and she is totally opposd to using it

Seemed like a plot device to me - if they knew what happened they
wouldn't be so keen to link

Logain shows up at is essentially a kidnapped tower aes sedai that may

Some may, but it is stated she went willingly at first. I think she
heard the terms and jumped at the chance without giving much thought to
the implications

I always thought the Sea Folk moving things sounded a bit crazy, but
perhaps Rand has other uses for the people who can Travel and doesn't
want to leave open Gateways lying around

Damage limitation I think

9. Rand has hundreds of Asha'man in the field and Logain with him,

Well, Rand only has the Asha'man he promoted and Logain, the rest are
all dedicated and soldiers. Logain said he took about half of them, so
I guess Taim is running half and Logain half, but taim's half is sill
recruiting

Mystified me. Maybe they are already balanced and he wanted to unbalance
it again?

What would Rand do if he need another 100 Asha'man?

Do you mean this?: page 288

"I'm an old man," Tom said suddenly, "and sometimes I imagine I see things
that can't be, but luckily, I always forget them."
Selucie paused to look up at him coolly. Lady's maid she might be, but blood
seemed not to faze her at all. " And what might you be trying to forget?"
"I can't recall," Thom replied. Selucia nodded and went back to examining
his wounds. "

To me that seems to have to do with Selucia being a 'Shadow' and must at
least be an excelent bodyguard besides being a maid.

2. the Tower timeline was left with Egwene about to serve Elaida at
dinner near the roof of the tower. Anyone else get the feeling the
seanchan are going to land raken on the roof that night?
I doubt that.
I think that either Elaida or Egwene is in for a nasty surprise though. I
wonder what.
Silly to thing thatcElaida doesn't know much of what is going on in the
Tower - even Egwene knows more from what she sees and hears by herself than
Elaida seems to get in information from others...

Perrin is a darkfriend, but then lets all his followers get killed off
in the battle, except for a hundred guys or so left to him. If he
thinks perrin is a darkfriend why didn't he actually move against
perrin himself?
I think Masema is the darkfriend - Moridin has ordered the death of Perrin
and Mat. I think the forsaken have used Masema as a tool - and he is too
fond of his own life not to use other to get to Perrin.
Masema has lost half of a worthless lot of followers - I doubt he cares. I
think he keeps them for show. Getting them together surely created a lot of
Chaos and their behavior doesn't do good to the reputation of Rand.
Post by N***@gmail.com
4. Why does no one think of Balefiring Semirhage after she injures
Rand?
Because his injuries are not lifetreathning and balefire is a thing even the
forsaken don't like to use.
(Nynaeve also knows how to use it!)

* The Aes Sedai Merise calls him Jahar there - why would she need to use a
different name for him and than gives her own so (yes she can not lie about
her name when she states 'my name is Merise Haindehl'?

It does make me wonder why they don't ask more - unless they have only felt
Saidar and don't know that Saidin was also used that day. In this case it
would be Aes Sedai business - and they would not want Merise (does not
belong to their group) or the Asha'man to know that they know.
I have to say that it wonders me more why they don't start looking for
whomever could be evesdropping right away when Narishma tells them someone
is channeling Saidin to do so???? That would have me alarmed!

6. Does anyone else think that the Aes Sedai at the Seafolk meeting
Logain shows up at is essentially a kidnapped tower aes sedai that may
have known nothing of the bargain?
Nope - she went willingly and found the situation different than she had
thought (lol)

7. Is it only me that thinks the whole Sea Folk moving food for a
million people is insane? I didn't think Tear has that type of supply,

The Sea Folk did say that they did not have enough ships for so much food.
And Min sees people dying from starvation...

Gateways cost a lot of energy - I doubt there are enough Asha'man to spare
for that (most are Soldiers or Dedicated, not full Asha'man). If you tie the
gates off they would still need Asha'man to guard them.

What makes me wonder more is how they can keep that much food from spoiling
for such a long voyage?

Elaida's sitters who are negotiating against her express orders - be

Neighter Elaida nor Egwene really want Sisters to kill Sisters - so to me
those talks seem like a way to prevent fighting at least for a while but I
doubt either party expects an agreement.

9. Rand has hundreds of Asha'man in the field and Logain with him,
while Evil Mazrim Taim huddles with his hundred Bad Guy Asha'man in his
palace. Who in the world is actually running the Black Tower?
It is more like 300 in the Black tower - 41 Asha'man, 50 or so other
'cronies' and 200 or so new man in training.
And the Black Tower (the building and the man there) is now run by Mazrim
Taim (Sammael?! -Semirhage wonders if he is still alive and according to
Moridin there are things happening 'that sound like Sammael' pag 147). The
rest of the man are under the command of Rand - with Logain as a second.? I
would say that they are preparing for TG and to make the agreement with the
Seanchan...
Post by N***@gmail.com
10. Why did Taim say yes to Pevara/Tarna's proposal to Bond Ashaman?
Rand ordered it in the case of the Rebel hall and Taim seems to still

letting the lord of chaos rule as Taim justifies his descision. Plus as

What better way to divide the Tower more - or shock Aes Sedai (when they
find out they have bonded with darkfriends)? Create Chaos? I doubt they'll
find any men willing to become there Warders among Mazrim men though.

I have another question:
* At Shadar Logoth Rand was fighting Sammael - and saw another man
(channeler) there - who kind of helped him. The one he can see in his head
like he can see Mat and Perrin. Was that Moridin?

I may have read this one wrong, but it looked to me like Thom was maybe
hitting on Selucia (albeit in a roundabout, Daes Dae'mar kind of way).
"I'm an old man, and you're young and hot, but I can dream, right?"
And she answers back in kind:
"Forget it old man"
It's loony, but sort of plausible. We already know from Riselle in Ebou
Dar that Thom has a thing for the "magnificent bosom"...

His full name is Jahar Narishma - he's just usually referred to by his
last name, like most of the Ash'aman.

Balefire unravel the Pattern. Even if they just used a small amount of
Balefire to "heal" Rand, you must not forget he is a ta'veren. Using
Balefire to heal Rand who was destined (Min's Viewing) to lose a hand,
might damage the pattern severely.

Personally I just felt that somebody should have grabbed her after they had
thrown 20 foot of rope over a tree...looped around her neck and attached the
other end to a horse.

Lovely.... took 30 seconds and there is now one less forsaken.

Hmmmmm just to easy.
